A sword that has -5 energy would have a permanent +damage% modifier too. -5 energy with Gladiator's armor isn't too bad, and Warriors aren't entirely dependent on energy either.

Also for a monk.
Put this and the -2 energy offhand (+3 -5) together, and its an effective thing to swith too under energy denial. lets fictionally say you have 100 energy (85+15 from your staff). Energy denial stuff is cast on you. You swith to your sword/offhand setup, your max energy is set to 78 (85-7 from your setup) now. This is effective because alot of denial ends at 0 energy. You get to 0 faster when you start with less energy..when it hits that - go back to your staff, and you recieve a free burst of 15 energy - and alls good. (Extra note: a common tactic while being denied energy is to "hide" that 15 energy your staff has, and once you reach 0 energy, swith to it quick, get the 15 energy, use whatever you need, and get back out of it) |

Like Former Ruling said.
- vs Wither and Malaise - if you know your death is coming: If possible, try to have the lowest max energy as possible when you die. When you are dead, you can't swap your equipment. When ressed with a Ressurrection Signet you will get 25% of your energy. Let's assume you have 3 sets: 1) standard staff with +5 energy = 15 energy from equipment, 45 energy total on character 2) 15/-1 regen icon + wand = 27 energy, 57 energy total 3) a -5 energy sword/axe and a -5 energy(-2 netto) icon from Cities of Ascalon quest. 23 energy total. - If you die and get ressed with no.1 equipped, you will end up with 11 energy. - If you die and get ressed with no.2 equippped, you will end up with 14 energy and -1 regen. When you switch back to your no.1 equipment you will end up with a scary low 2 energy. - If you die and get ressed with no.3 equpped, you will end up with 6 energy. When you switch back to your no.1 equipment you will end up with a nice 28 energy. You could burn to your no.2 equipment, switch to no.3 expecting to die, and wait for a res with healthy energy. Now offcourse this is easier said then done, but I thought its an interesting tidbit of info. There will be situations in which you will be sole survivor and the team waiting for a priest res for example. Or you hear your monks calling 'blackout' and things look bad for you... ~ makkert |

The -5 energy swords for warriors are the stupidest things ever. 5 energy is huge on a warrior. Sure your melee attacks for the most part are all adren, but everything else that makes you actually do damage is energy related.
Id take the -10 armor anyday, you're not a first target as a war so you shouldnt be getting beat on. If it gets down to just you alive then generally youve lost (although yes ive been in fights as a w/mo where i get a nice rez sig out and everyone gets rezd up and we win). |

Add a zealous hilt on a sword and now your -5 energy sword dont bother your warrior at all. Besides if youre casting things with your warrior that you cant replace the energy fast enough with a zealous hilt or natural regen, your warrior is dead anyway...

Yep, great for monk with OOB. Use this combo, and use OOB, and you're back on energy. Great tactic against drain Mesmer that try to mess up monks.

i've been farming with a -5 energy axe...
its doing pretty good, since a warrior dun need too much energy, 22 is ok enough. most of the the skill u cast is only 5 energy max 10 for HB (except if u want to cast high energy stuff like SOJ)normally a -5 is good to have since u get a alway dmg mod. IMO -5 en is better -10 armor(while attacking) |
